Gambling Help and Safer Play at LEON Bet NZ
This page is a walkthrough. Each step below explains one safer-play tool on LEON Bet NZ, where to find it and what happens after you switch it on, followed by the people you can talk to in New Zealand if you need more than a setting. Betting and casino games on our platform are for adults aged 18 and over only, and the tools here are free for every account holder.
Step 1: Check In With Yourself
Before changing any setting, take a minute to look honestly at how you play. These questions are not a test and there is no score; they are prompts for reflection:
- When did you last stop playing at the point you had planned?
- Is gambling money coming from savings, credit or bills?
- After a loss, do you feel you need to keep going until you win it back?
- Do you play to escape stress, boredom or low mood?
- Would you be uncomfortable if someone close to you saw how much you play?
If any answer worries you, the steps below will help, and so will a conversation with one of the services listed further down. For a structured check, LEON links to a confidential self-assessment quiz provided by the Responsible Gambling Council.
Step 2: Turn On Deposit Caps
A deposit cap is the simplest guardrail because it works before money reaches your balance.
- Log in and open your account profile.
- Go to the Manage deposit limits page.
- Choose a daily, weekly or monthly cap and enter the amount.
- Click Apply — the change takes effect automatically.
New accounts start with no limit at all, so nothing is capped until you set it. You can reduce a cap whenever you like. What you cannot do is ask for a cap to be lifted before the period you chose has ended, which gives you a built-in cooling-off period against impulse decisions.
Step 3: Set Wagering Limits and Keep Track of Time
A wagering limit caps the total value of the bets you place, rather than the money you put in. It matters most if you tend to recycle winnings into new bets.
- In your account profile, open Manage wagering limits.
- Pick a daily, weekly or monthly period and the maximum total stake.
- Click Apply.
As with deposit caps, lowering the limit is possible at any time, while lifting it has to wait until the current period ends.
Time is the one thing these limits do not measure, so manage it yourself: decide in advance how long a session will last, set an alarm on your phone, and take a proper break between sessions rather than playing on autopilot. Keeping a simple note of what you deposit each week also makes changes in your habits easier to spot.
Step 4: Use a Time-Out or Permanent Self-Exclusion
When you need distance from gambling, use the deposit-limit page in a stronger way:
- Six-month time-out: set the deposit limit to 0 for six months. It cannot be removed before those six months run out.
- Permanent self-exclusion: set the 0 limit with no end date. Your access to play on our website then ends for good.
Prefer to ask someone? Send support a written self-exclusion request, and it will be addressed straight away.
These exclusions are enforced on your LEON Bet account by our own systems, under the conditions of our licence. They are not linked to a national register run by any government, so they cover LEON only. If you also play elsewhere, ask those operators for their own exclusion and consider the blocking software described in the next step.
If we believe gambling is harming you, we may restrict your account for a while or start a self-exclusion ourselves.
Blocking Gambling Sites on Your Devices
An account exclusion stops play on one platform. Blocking software goes further by restricting gambling websites across your devices. Tools such as Gamban and BetBlocker can be installed on phones and computers and are useful if you want a barrier that does not depend on any one operator. Parents can use parental-control software in the same way to keep children off gambling sites.
Help Outside LEON Bet
New Zealand has free support services that are independent of any gambling company:
| Service | How to reach it | When |
|---|---|---|
| Gambling Helpline | Call 0800 654 655 or text 8006 — gamblinghelpline.co.nz | 24 hours a day |
| Problem Gambling Foundation (PGF) | Freephone 0800 664 262 — pgf.nz | Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm |
The Gambling Helpline can also refer you to other gambling support agencies. Both services are free and confidential.
How Oversight Works
Our responsible gambling policy is an appendix to the Terms and Conditions, so the tools above are part of the rules every account plays under, not optional extras. The operator, Jade Reef Ventures Corp., holds Anjouan (Union of Comoros) licence ALSI-202410001-FI1. If you think a request about limits or exclusion was mishandled, raise it with support first; an unresolved complaint can then be taken to Anjouan Gaming, as the Terms and Conditions explain.
No Judgement When You Ask for Help
Reaching out is a normal, sensible thing to do. Our support team, trained in responsible gambling, is on live chat around the clock and at [email protected]. Contacting us costs nothing, and conversations about limits, time-outs or exclusion stay confidential and are handled without judgement. Whether you want help setting up your first cap or you feel things have got out of hand, you will be listened to. When you are ready, the LEON Bet New Zealand guide is one click away.
